Did you know Cooper Tire is the 5th largest tire manufacturer in North America? With a variety of tires for different types of passenger vehicles, it’s no wonder why Cooper is a popular choice for Tire America customers. So let’s take a look at a few of their tires to see what else makes them well-liked.
Discoverer A/T3
The Discoverer A/T3 is an all-season, all-terrain tire for SUVs and light trucks. Cooper promises excellent highway and off-road performance, wet traction, and handling with this tire. Available in a variety of sizes and load ranges, the A/T3 is an attractive option if you need a year-round tire with some versatility. Cooper adds more value with treadwear protection from 55,000 miles and up, depending on your tire size.
UTQG Rating
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Uniform Tire Quality Grading System (UTQGS) gives the Discoverer A/T3 an A rating for traction, B for temperature and 560 for wear.

Comparable Tires
The Discoverer AT3 is similar to the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K02 and Firestone Destination A/T.
Cooper Discoverer HT3
The Cooper Discoverer HT3 is an all-season, light truck tire designed for highway driving. The HT3’s tread pattern features four wide circumferential grooves that help prevent hydroplaning, and it’s continuous shoulder ribs fight irregular wear. Rated for mud and light snow, the HT3 also provides traction in sloppy road conditions. To top it off, Cooper’s 50,000-mile treadwear protection gives some extra peace of mind.
UTQG Rating
The Discoverer HT3 does not have a UTQG rating because it is a deep tread tire. Deep tread, winter-type snow tires are not graded.
Comparable Tires
The HT3 is similar to the Sumitomo Encounter HT and the Michelin LTX M/S.
Cooper CS5 Grand Touring
The Cooper CS5 Grand Touring is an all-season radial tire for CUVs, SUVs and most sedans. The CS5 Grand (and Ultra) Touring replaced Cooper’s incredibly popular CS4 line. According to Tire Review, Cooper states the Grand Touring’s tread compound has better wet traction than the CS4 and provides superior handling, cornering and stability. Plus their 80,000-mile treadwear protection suggests exceptional tire life, helping you stay on the road longer.
UTQG Rating
The CS5 Grand Touring has an A rating for traction, B for temperature and 780 for wear.
Comparable Tires
The CS5 Grand Touring is similar to the Michelin Primacy MXV4 and the Yokohama AVID S33.
H2: Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring
The CS5 Ultra Touring is another all-season radial tire from Cooper, available for most sedans and utility vehicles. Like the CS5 Grand Touring, the Ultra is designed to provide exceptional handling and is rated for mud and light snow. The Ultra differs from the Grand, sacrificing a bit of tire life (50,000 or 70,000-mile treadwear protection based on speed rating) for an ultra-quiet ride.
UTQG Rating
The CS5 Ultra Touring has an A rating for traction and temperature. It has a wear rating of 500, 600 and 640, depending on speed rating and tire size.
Comparable Tires
The CS5 Ultra Touring is similar to the Sumitomo HTR Enhance L/X and the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport.
